Tana River Marks the Beginning of a New Era: The Groundbreaking of Organic City – “The City That Breathes”

Tana River County, Kenya – November 11, 2025

History was made today in Tana River County as leaders, residents, and international partners gathered to witness the official groundbreaking and cornerstone placement ceremony of Organic City, a visionary project led by Conkrite Capital Corporation, in partnership with Greenboat Capital Kenya and the County Government of Tana River.

The event brought together more than 300 attendees, including representatives from national and county government, the Kenya Defense Forces, the National Police Service, and several dignitaries from the private sector. In a rare show of unity and optimism, Tana River’s leaders, elders, and youth stood side by side to bless the land that will soon transform into one of Africa’s most ambitious eco-cities.

Dr. Innocent (Inno), representing the Greenboat and Conkrite leadership, led the ceremony alongside Nicolas W. Del Valle, CEO of Conkrite Capital. Together, they placed the ceremonial stone that will anchor the city’s foundation – a moment symbolizing the birth of hope, sustainability, and human dignity.

“The City That Breathes”

Organic City is more than a housing project; it is a living ecosystem. It will combine sustainable construction, regenerative agriculture, renewable energy, and community-based economics under one unified model.

Planned features include:
• Eco-homes and smart modular housing
• Vocational schools and training centers for over 70,000 residents
• Integrated water, food, and energy systems
• Cultural and civic plazas that honor both tradition and innovation
• The Tree of Life Fountain, symbolizing renewal and unity

Community-Driven Transformation

The first 150 local families have already joined as founding members of the community, donating land and pledging to help build and operate Organic City through a unique time-based economy that rewards contribution, craftsmanship, and cooperation.

“Our philosophy is simple,” said Nicolas W. Del Valle, “When you build people, people build cities. This is not just construction; this is civilization reborn.”

Dr. Inno added, “Organic City is a testament to what can happen when people believe in dignity, ownership, and sustainability. This land will no longer wait for development; we will create it.”

Leadership and Attendance

The event featured attendance by county commissioners, local chiefs, senior ministry officials, and security representatives from the Army, Navy, and Police Corps. The atmosphere was both ceremonial and visionary, a fusion of prayers in multiple languages, traditional music, and active construction as workers continued to build the iconic entrance arch throughout the ceremony.

Next Steps

The first phase of construction, which includes the main gate arch, palm-lined boulevard, lighting systems, and model homes – is already underway. The full development plan envisions housing, schools, clinics, and an agro-industrial zone across thousands of acres donated by the local community.
